Thought #21- Health

I am currently reading The Power of One Thought by BK Shivani. There is a section on responsibility, which I will cover in another post.

But then, why am I writing here?

There was a line in the book that made me ponder, and it was this line was:

If we create a list of our responsibilities, it would include aspects like family, home, career, finances, achievements, and so on.

We make ourselves responsible for our family, the work entrusted to us, savings, and even our health.

If I ask you to think of a healthy person, what do you imagine? Maybe you think of someone in your close circle with a fit, toned body—someone who eats healthy, works out 3–4 times a week, or maybe even daily.

But is health just about the outer appearance— i.e., the body?

What about the mind?

Did anyone imagine a healthy person consuming good content, reading, listening to the right people, or meditating?

A toned body isn’t always a healthy body— or a body with a healthy mind.

Yet, we’re all chasing that imaginary healthy body—the figure, the number on the weight scale, the measurements around the waist. Punishing ourselves for not losing that weight within a month, feeling discouraged about our weight loss journey, and maybe giving up midway.

If we had a healthy mind with the right beliefs, we might not be giving up so soon. We would be closer to reality, but we have cluttered our minds and convinced ourselves that a “healthy body” is just that.

I think it’s time we give equal importance—if not equal, then more—to what’s inside.

If the internal is fine, the external will take care of itself in the long run.

Real health is both physical AND mental.
