What an amazing quote by Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson!
You might not understand what’s so amazing about this quote at one reading. Honestly, I too didn’t understand it.
I feel this quote describes all the important aspects of life, be it :
– Living in the present
– Finding time for self
– Listening to the true inner voice
– Going beyond the materialistic things
“What lies behind us” is basically our past and “what lies before us” is whats ahead of us i.e our future.
What has already happened in the past, we can’t do anything about it but to learn from it. In the same way, worrying about the future is of no use in this present moment. They both are tiny part of life which we have no control over. The only thing we do have control over is NOW and how you use this “now” will determine the direction your life takes.
“What matters is” , listening to the inner voice. As life goes on we become so busy with everything thats happening around us that we forget whats actually happening inside of us. Do pay enough attention to the inner voice every now and then.
Let’s live up to our authentic self.
